Hello, pumpkins! Time for another challenge contest...

A special welcome to any new members! Please feel free to jump straight into competition this week, and don't forget to take a look at our community guidelines and community icons. This week, we'll be doing a one-week writing challenge. For a challenge competition, there will be a topic in addition to a constraint of some sort. Winners of challenges will receive a small banner with their name and title of their entry, if applicable.

This week's challenge is...

Topic: Delicate
Constraint: Either no dialog or all dialog

Delicate -- fragile -- weak. There are certainly distinctions between these words, but we approach them all with similar practice. The nuances of a delicate object are generally positive; perhaps we don't want to approach a person, a teacup, a pastry, without an inordinate amount of caution for fear of breaking its form. We respect that which is delicate. What does this mean for your characters?

No kidding. I have arguments with myself every time something is spelled differently in non-US things. (but in the end, my scholarly side comes out on top, and it says "you're in the US, use the stupid spelling rules." stupid scholarly side. maybe we should kick it out.)

I absolutely can't use USAmerican spelling, heh! My brain won't let me. I get into fights with MS Word about it (because it never respects my language default when I change it to English (Singapore), grr). :P

Tell the kitten I said hi, too! :)

I live in the US, (born and raised here) but grew up using Canadian spelling, and some words in US English still make me crazy.

well, it's not like dialogue happens in poetry very often. or well, at least not -my- poetry...

so is that acceptable for the constraint?
