Good afternoon etc, everyone! Early topic today; I've just been informed that I'm starting my new job tomorrow instead of later in the week and must run out for a bit to prepare for that.
And the usual special welcome to any new members! Please feel free to jump straight into competition whenever you feel comfortable, and don't forget to take a look at our community guidelines and community icons. Let me know if you have any questions or ideas or would like to join the editing team! Your topic for this week is: Fairy tales are at the center of many cultures. It's fascinating to look at the same basic idea for such a story and see how different cultures tell it similarly, but still different. I would love to see each of you take a traditional fairy tale that you like and retell it, from a different character's point of view or for a different audience. However, as with all prompts, you are free to take this as you like! Have a character who might read out loud to another? Go for it!
Submissions will close Monday, January 31, 10 pm GMT (5 pm EST).
Note: Format refers to whether your entry is fiction, nonfiction, poetry, script, etc; this information, along with the word count, is used when assigning editors. Trigger warnings will be listed with your entry in the polls. Any other authors' notes may go on your entry. Good luck, and happy writing!
