This is the second week of this contest. This is the second month we've had contests. It's my second writing community (chronologically! not in how much I care about it!). I see this as something of a "power week", much as someone's 3rd birthday being on the 3rd of the month is a special birthday.
There's a certain power in coming in second in a race. You did well, so you're proud, but you're also driven to go that extra little bit to take first. Encouragement and motivation come together perfectly, in my opinion. When you come in second, you're going to train harder and be sure to make every moment, every second of your race count that much more. The second draft of a story is generally regarded as better than the first. The second child ... I'm just kidding! ;)
Submissions are due Saturday, August 14, at 6 pm GMT (1 pm EST).
