One of the most striking moments in The West Wing was, for me, when President Bartlet steps down from his job temporarily while his daughter is missing. He says that he can't do his duty to the country properly when his mind is so clearly on her welfare. What happens when your characters are asked to choose between their families and their jobs? Or are your characters doing their duties out of love for the job or patriotism?
Submissions will close Thursday, July 19, 5 pm EDT (9 pm GMT).
Note: Trigger warnings will be listed with your entry in the polls. Any other authors' notes may go on your entry. Good luck, and happy writing!
