Okay, yes, we all know who won, but clickyboxes are fun! And reading the entry is also fun!

"A click for liking it" brings up the memories of the inevitable sprawling wank arguments about kudos on AO3 *shakes head*

I went trawling through and found some links if you want. I mean, mostly they're not that bad but everytime the subject comes up I scroooooll because the arguments are always exactly the same and no one gets anywhere and it all seems pointless to me? Can't control responses of people etc. IMO kudos is such a huge topic because it kind of touches on a lot of things applicable to a lot of people - writers' desire (or not) for responses/types of responses/comments, readers' desire to leave/not leave types of response. who owes who what (I gave you story, why no comment? etc), some AO3 dislike thrown in, get off my lawn "comments means you worked harder and didn't just click a button", ambiguity over what kudos means ("I read this!" "I didn't hate this!" "I liked this!" "I feel obligated to say I finished it!" "I like clicking buttons"), "death of commenting culture" and it goes on and on. And it's not, say, fandom or genre or anything-specific, so everybody can jump in.

And the monster thread: http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/31204.html?thread=140390884#t140390884

Having now typed up that I feel like some very interesting meta could be written about kudosing. Jeez.
